If I hear or read one more word about Bruce Jenner being a hero, I’m going to vomit. What makes him a hero? Did he save someone from a burning building? Did he crawl out onto a battlefield while under fire to rescue an injured comrade? Did he donate a vital organ to save a stranger’s life? Did he dive into freezing water to save someone? No!
What he did was be dissatisfied with the sex he was born with and he had enough money to change his sex. Okay, I get it. He wasn’t happy. And everyone deserves to be happy.
Heaven forbid that he would lose his more than 15 minutes of fame. He has my respect for his Olympic accomplishments. But, it begins and ends there. To call him a “hero”, diminishes the true heroes. We are much too quick nowadays to heap praise on everyone who airs their dirty laundry in public all in the name of “helping some poor soul.”
Enough already! Let’s hold our monikers to those who really deserve it. And let’s keep our personal stuff, personal.
